South West Quilters - BACK TO BASICS BEGINNERS PATCHWORK

A CHRISTMAS OHIO STAR CUSHION with Susan Enderson
At Bridestowe Village Hall, nr Okehampton
Sat. 16th Oct. and Sat. 11th Dec. 10am – 4pm

This is a two day workshop.  At the first lesson you will learn about fabric and sewing thread, how to make templates and construct a block.  At the second lesson you will learn about wadding, quilting thread and the quilting stitch, putting together your "sandwich" using the block made in lesson one.  This is a hand sewing class.

Day One – Patchwork  Your day will begin with a short history of patchwork, then on to making templates the old fashioned way.   You will be making the Ohio Star block with a border, in Christmas fabrics.

Day Two – Quilting.  Your day will begin with a short history of quilting, then on to looking at the different waddings available today and their uses, also different threads and why we use them.   You will put together your “sandwich” and learn the magical quilting stitch.   We will also run through the construction of your cushion so that you can finish your project in time for Christmas.

Cost:  Members, single workshop £15, book both for £25.   Non members:  £18 for one, £28 when both booked together.
